“It was the best decision we ever made. But it wasn’t a conclusion we came to right way. Between the time the script was finished and the time we started filming, years passed, so we had a long time to think about it. We considered different people, you know, well known actors we liked and others that weren’t so well known. But one day, I was looking at old pictures of the real Frank Higgins. I turned to my sister and said, ‘Alethia, who does this remind you of?’ She smiled at me with the same excited twinkle in her eye and said, ‘Bubba’. I think right then, we just knew.”
