Executive Producer
Russell Stendal
Russell & Marina Stendal, Executive Producers of The Parish of the Pines film are missionaries to Colombia and continue serving the forgotten South American people bringing them hope in rural and hostile areas today. Jungle missionary pilot Russell was kidnapped and held captive by Marxist guerrillas for 5 months in 1983. Deep within the Colombian jungle, tied to a tree, he wrote a book entitled Rescue the Captors, a memoir of his ordeal dedicated to his captors.
After his release, he was advised to leave the country and never return. However, Russell decided to stay in Colombia with his wife and family and began a work of reaching out to the rebels that had held him hostage. He realized that the men and women that had taken his freedom were in more bondage than he was and while there were many people praying for his release, no one seemed to care for these men, women and children imprisoned in the dark, violent life of civil war. The distribution of this book thought out rural, war-torn Colombia began a work of reconciliation and peace amidst areas of overwhelming darkness that has grown to include many more materials, resources and projects.
In addition to producing The Parish of the Pines, Russell is the author of more than 20 Christian books, editor of the Jubilee Bible, Executive Producer of another film title La Montaña, and a current missionary working in the Jungles of South America.
